(mini)... French Open

Yesterday was my first try on clay courts... it was fun! haha... it was our second away game and we won it! haha... awesome! my team's on a roll now... winning 3 straight matches. but the new court surface experience was... exquisite? sliding from one end of the court to the other... and its the only type of surface that we have to sweep up the court after every game... sweet!
Anyway!
what happens when OCF, Tennis and school work gets tied up all together?! STRESS!! yea... these couple of days had been tangled up with work... ocf... and tennis... it was one heluva tiring ride!
explained: wednesday... worship practice till 10pm... next day i had presentation... so need time to prepare... therefore pulled an all nighter (thank God managed to get some snooze)... after presentation... tennis match... rush back grab my stuff... ran back to Uni... and off we go! results... WON! so celebrated with a bottle of wine... and crackers with smoke salmon and spicy avocado dip... yum yum!!

i'm begining to realise that i sound a wee bit like pretty boy Joseph...

Rainbow... (trout)... Connection

why are there so many songs about fishes
and whats on the other side
fishes are (not) vicious, but only delicious
fishes cant close their eyes
so we've been told, that some choose to eat it
i know they won't regret it, wait and see
someday we'll find it, trout connections
the cookers, the eaters, and me...

who said that every fish would be heard and answered
when wished on the morning star
someone caught of that, and someone grilled it
look whats it done so far
whats so amazing that keeps us star gazing
of all the dishes we can make
someday we'll find it, trout connections
the cookers, the eaters, and me...

all of us under its spell
and we'd probably know that its yummy...

have you been half asleep, and have you heard voices
i've heard them calling my name
is this the sweet sound that calls the young fishermen
i know its one and the same
i've smelled it too many times to ignore it
it's something im supposed to eat
someday we'll find it, trout connections
the cookers, the eaters, and me...

le Corbusier...

just finished my modern B lecture... today... was modern B day. tutorial was okay... the discussion was pretty interesting, yet very boring in a sense of its topics. well, i realised that i have really very different view of le corb. although i do favour in his architecture... but my views of his intentions was rather... less humane. was contemplating a couple of times, whether i should had voice out my oppinions... which were very crude and individualistic. they were all discussing on le corb's design intentions, trying to be concern for the public, yet his solutions was still very naive. mine however, totally contradicts to it. being the fact that he was totally individual in his intentions... basically he just cut and pasted all his favourite ideas and forms into his buildings... having his own identity and style to be known in the world, nothing to do with the context and stakeholders. unlike his earlier works... for the international style... of very duplicatic design styles.
anyway, the lecture was pretty interesting, discussing on the later works/ second half of le corb's and wrights' design ideas. yea... it was a pity though, the lecturer touched very little on one of my all time favourite le corb buildings... the Carpenter Centre for the visual arts, at harvard university. she had very little time to spare with... and it was actually the last slide. sigh... its a building that has been talked about very little in lectures and books. probably of its less significant impact it lied into le corbs design... unlike the Chandigrah, Ronchamp, Villa Savoye... etc.
Yeap.

Le Corbusier 1963
The Carpenter Center is Le Corbusier's only building in North America, and one of the last to be completed during his lifetime. Its wonderful collection of concrete forms bring together many of the design principles and devices from Le Corbusier's earlier works: the ondulatoires (windows above left) from La Tourette; the brises soleils (below) originally from the Marseille unité d'habitation but angled later in Chandigarh (but here with glass for the Massachusetts climate); and the original Five Points from the 1920s 'accentuated in a new way: as if the Villa Savoye had been exploded inside out, with ramp and curved partitions extending into the environment.' The ramp and architectural promenade is particularly strong at the Carpenter Center.
'At the heart is a cubic volume from which curved studios pull away from one another on the diagonal. The whole is cut through by an S-shaped ramp which rises from one street and descends towards the other... The layers and levels swing out and back from the grid of concrete pilotis wihtin, making the most of cantilevering to create interpenetrations of exterior and interior, as well as a sequence of spatial events linked by the promenade architecturale of the ramp.'

double jeopardy...

what do you do when you have a "splinter" in your team? nothing...
more specifically, what if you have a team member that has problems with authority, and wants to take over the team leadership? answer: you give him the responsibilty...
if he eagers to be the boss, and pays no respect to the supposed leader... then give it to him. (in a worldly context, you fire the person, as in get rid of him)
anyway... as you all should know by now, this situation is definitely related to my current scenario... but on the other hand, i might be wrong. however, i usually am not wrong on this... plus he's a typical kiasu singaporean, top school snobbish... smart ass, oh so talented bloody bastard prick! but theres nothing i can do about it... sorry for my rude behavior, but its a blog... i can type and say however i want to express my feelings on.

other events: haha... i won my last tennis match! my team won! i played 2 matches... lost one in a tie break 6-7(6-8), and won one 6-0! what a way to break my losing streak. this weeks match... BRING IT ON!!
the musical went pretty smoothly... the props and stage set was pretty nifty. yea.. proud of the whole team... and their committed contributions. the performance was okay... the singing was the turn off... but overall it was good. a very cliche sort of musical/ drama.
yea... anyway! time to get back to work...
