brighter than sunshine...
Anyway, its a bright and sunny day today. the sun is happy, but the wind is chilly... it really feels like the weather you get on a weekend. plus, this is the earliest morning i've ever woken up for the past few weeks...JM and I went all the way to grattan st, just for one pathetic breakfast meal. which served: 1 slice of bread, 1 spoonful of spinach, 1 tiny little tomato, 2 short slices of bacon. the food was not bad, just the portions were sad. after trying all these breakfast places around, i am still in favour of the Big Breakfast at Vic Market... YUM.
Recently i've been indulging myself, together with JM with a korean drama series... a pretty lame and slow moving drama. everything moves really soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slowly. everyone is so so blur and zombie-ish. sigh... and you wondered why such a story would require 21 vcds to complete the series... sien ah... i get so restless at times that i just wanna skip the whole drama and go right to the end. luckily, one of the actress is a Denise Keller lookalike... and she pops by on and off... so thats pretty interesting... 'cept theres this fat chubby little booger that follows her everywhere... and i really really hope that she wont get together with him. if only i was in there to sweep her off her feet, and then tell the fella... "anatawa buta des... hait! Arigato... osama bin laden."
hmmmm... the weather is very pleasant. i feel like going for a run... think, think, think... maybe?

work... work... work...
You Are 26 Years Old |
26 Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe. 13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world. 20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences. 30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more! 40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax. |
imagine that. i did this whilst doing my journals... kewl.
mind you... i still look 22... oops! delete delete... 18.

one more... to go!!

New Guggenheim in Mexico

Tadao Ando just never ceased to amaze me... well, at this point he really isnt my idol anymore... but still a master to all. this time he's up for steel buildings (i'll post the photo next time... maybe). then again... it was the clients specific instruction not to use concrete as the skin of the building... still a marvelous piece, though i doubt the serious insufficient day lighting that would probably enter into the building, with such few slits of openings... still doubt his practicality of his architecture at times... well, that proves the biggest difference between a trained (graduate) and non-trained architect... OOps
and then here is the much anticipated new Guggenheim museum set in Mexico... rarely i've seen a museum build it that sort of fashion- Vertically. its almost like an office building... but it was for a good cause, minimizing the land usuage of the site... conserving as much forest area as possible. and the site looks extraordinary... gasp! must be an excellent view... at the edge of the cliff. new reason to visit Mexico... aside from the stuffed up donkeys...
sigh... when would this opportunity fall into my feet... i would die to get a project like that... hence i would need proper skills and capabilties... which at this point i have none... and this saddens me deeply...
ive realize that... the next time i go abt in my expeditions... i should bring a sketchbook... after scanning to plenty of sketch drawings... i realize the signicants and advantage of it... a camera would only take every possible view u see, but a sketch tells u the specific details u see, hence, less confuse. yea, i know this is a first year thing... of bringing a sketch pad every where u go...
using a camera, we would just take advantage of its endless memory capasity... but a sketchbook with its limited pages... every sketch counts. then again... lots of ink would be wasted... hmmm.
and ive found interest in ambiguous graphics... the japanese are really a unique bunch of buggers... they are really skewed in their perspective of life...
stupid... JOURNALS!!!
and my journal is due tomorrow!!!! OH NO!!
im gonna DIE!! XP... AND the other one due the day after!!
im gonna DIE... TWICE!!!!!!
how am i supposed to know what were the design ideas for the IAN POTTER MUSEUM... SIDNEY MYER!!... AND MELB TERRACE APARTMENTS??!?!?!?!?!?!?! shoot me!!
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH TO READ?!!?!?!?!?!
who am i kidding... THIS IS THE END!!!

a reverie... too long.
not a prodigy...
cant read scores...
aint got the talent...
and cant play the piano.
okay... now thats done... all i need to do now is to learn how to play the piano...
its sad... to know friends/ people you knew... that still behaves or thinks the way it was back then. why? hasnt things change? havent we moved on to another series of our lives? isnt things in the past irrelevant any more... is the past still feasable for judgements? is history a sole liability? arent we all grown ups? is it only through education you'll change/ be deluded? is the case of intellectualism just a masquerade of what we were/ are supposed to be... pretending to look/ be smarter... coz society says its socially the right path to be in. am i just not able to change the past that haunts me ever everytime i try to erase it...

when you wish upon a... Star.
lalalalalalalalalala...
im so full-y
oh so full-y
im so full-y and witty and gay(happy)!!!
and i pity... any hungry lil' kid tonight
lalalalalalalalala...
i feel charming
Oh, so charming
It's alarming how charming I feel!
And so full-y
That I hardly can move my feet
See the fatty boy in that mirror there:
Who can that attractive boy be?
Such a pretty ab,
Such a pretty ass,
Such a pretty smile,
Such a pretty me!
I feel stunning
And entrancing,
Feel like running and dancing for joy,
For I'm full
By a pretty wonderful stew!
anyway!
went to uni to hand in my assignment... finally! its off my hands and down the shute...
and anyway, so later i went over to union house to check out what the sandman comic was all about... just to see how dark and disturbing it is... and also to check out the graphics... thats really important to me.
however, before i could really check out the details of the comic... i was totally distracted by another comic... SPIDEY!! and one thing led to another... from just standing around the shelves glancing through the pages... i ended up sitting on the chairs together with all the comic geeks... reading the whole issue... trying to finish the story... i wanted to bring it home... but then, sooner than i thought.. i finished it... three whole chapters... and then i was tempted to grab another one... but my stomach was growling... yeap. i knew my priorities straight up... FOOD.
and after that whole comic... i learn one valueble question... why?
WHY am i so lazy to go for a run...?

Federer: Simple version for me is, uhm, started bad and finished bad basically (smiling), was good in the middle and that was not good enough. That's like the short and simple version. Of course, you know, afterwards you go further, but that's for me what I sum up right now.
On Nadal's improvement: Oh, I mean, of course he has. He deserved his victory. He was the better player tonight. Never take anything away from somebody who beat me, because I was trying my best. At times I played good; sometimes I didn't play so good. But I didn't feel like he's a totally different player to Miami. I mean, it's only two months ago. It's not much time to really improve your game. Even on clay, you know, he should have beaten me in three sets in Miami. And here I was already at four sets. I know I can beat him on any surface, which is good to know, because he's going to be a threat in the future. It's a pity, you know, he beat me here in the semis of a Slam , which is tough.
Nadal: Yeah, I am very happy. So I am very happy. I am in the final, for me that is very important. Is a dream for me. Is a dream for me. I can won today against the No. 1 -- not only the No. 1 for the tennis, but the No. 1 for the person and for his sportivity (sic).
On Federer finding his form in second set: He is playing very well in the second set. When he play very well, I can't do nothing, no? He have unbelievable forehand. And when his forehand go to my backhand, is very difficult for me. After in the third set, I can escape and I can improve in my game, no?
On Puerta: Well, he'll be difficult, you know, because it's Roland Garros. He's been playing very good tennis to be in the final. It will be a very complicated match. I'll have to play my best tennis and only like that will I be able to win.

went to the city library to return a few things... and from the trip, i borrowed more CDs, DVDs... etc. borrowed a live performance concert of Keith Jarret- Standards 2. the songs in their are really nice... "when you wish upon a star, love letters, when i fall in love..." and its always good to see these talented artist... trying to/ look like they're trying to "pangsai" on stage... ahhh... its all abt feel... and soon oneday... i WILL get there... at this frequent visits to the toilet... my time will come in no time...
also, i got myself the new macross series... "macross plus"... and all the while i thought macross plus was part of the utopianic kiddy version of the macross series... i was wrong... its quite good (well, i like it lar). and the Jets are super upgraded... plus! its in english... anime freak!! yes... ARIGAT-TO!!
and! i found this (refering to the photo...), bo5n (band of 5 names)... i have no idea why do they have 5 names... they are supposed to be a well known "acoustic" jazz band... after listening to them... it aint so acoustic to me... or maybe... all this while, all the sort of jazz music i listen to are "acoustic" versions anyway... nonetheless, they're not bad... they create quite interesting & unique music... abit on the warped side... but still unique. as what Kath & Kim would agree... "nice, different and common... is good"... what the?!?!
i had bake cheese rice cravings this morning... but then as i was walking along Degraves St... i suddenly had risotto cravings... but later... i decided to have bibimbab cravings... however, as i walked by the sushi place on swanston... i decided that maki was the best choice... 4 for $5!!...
im nearly... done.
well... then again... text is still blissfully vivid in my things-to-finish agenda... JOURNALS!!! but however... its not as boring... as writting 3000 words out of from nothing... nothing specifically in context that is.
just been sitting and writting... theories... of laneways... or more of a "critical analysis" of laneways... hmmm.. how critical can i be... just be writing down stuff like... "... and the cracks on the pavements... signifies the rush flow of new urban life forms... out comes the natural... into the unnatural... of the predetermined landscapes of mankind..."
okay samuel... think... to sleep? or... read... ?
i've given up on downloading my 5.58GB of Japanese Anime... its just too long... im so impatient to wait... forever ive been staring at the progress monitor... 100mb... 300mb... 500mb... 800mb...!! no!... cancel cancel... delete!... i might as well just save up to buy the original DVD. much much more convenient... less hassle... better quality... and you can get both english as well as chinese subtitles. not that i would have any use of the latter, but nonetheless... its way cooler and legal.
other news, apparently federer went down to the young and upcoming fella... Raphael Nadal... who eventually won the whole tournament... good for him... and made it to the history books for whatever... dope!... useless marat...
speaking of Raphaels... interesting... that the body of Barouque Painter- Raphael, was burried within the Pantheon. interesting to give him such an honor... i guess... Raphael one of the great painter of the era... painted many of the interiors of buildings... his great masterpieces all lies on the walls and ceilings of buildings... and the Pantheon... being THE first major building to be composed entirely as an interior. it made sense to link up the two together... literally... man and his building...
speaking of which... finally... the verdict has been made. the winner of the new Gugenheim Museum in Mexico... ISNT Frank Gehry... finally an alternate taste... i was / am getting abit sick of F.Gehry... its all practically the same... however contextual it may supposed be... it still looks all generic to me... talk about creativity... sheesh... oops.
well, then again... it needed 10 architects (TEN Arquitectos) to beat the fella. thats good... 10 different foots.. kicking his ass... oops!
hold on. why am i writing all these... i think im getting sleepy... well i better be... its LATE!!

スマップ-世界に一つだけの花...
into the most Holy Place as a sin offering,
but the bodies are burned outside the camp.
And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate
to make the people holy through his own blood.
Let us, then, go to him outside the camp,
bearing the disgrace he bore.
For here we do not have an enduring city,
but we are looking for the city that is to come. " Hebrews 13: 11-14
i personally dislike like the idea of nuns and monks going away, far away in solitude to seek peace...
isolating themselves from the world...
to run away from it all for ETERNITY...
the idea is just disgraceful towards God,
chickening out from what they really as christians should be doing
what if one day, all the monastries had been destroyed...
and back to the sin city they have to go... could they play survivor being here on real world?
the idea of being in this world but not part of the world, is to live in the world trying to survive, to presevere
to spread the good news... to be tempted in every way... everyday... and learning how to resist and flee from it... but yet not to run and hide.
its good to sometimes go away from it all back to the "camps"... to seek peace and comfort
and without distraction, to further seek God... and to get right with Him
but all this should only be temporary...
and would have to return back to the battle grounds... till his days are finally over... and can Balik Kampung!!
the Exam fever has finally arrived... everyone is now sitting tightly at their study desk... not missing a wink of studies... stressing their brains to bits...
while I... just float around... singing... oh la la...
well, while i was preparing for bedtime... i amused myself for about 2 minutes with a little red button... thats how exciting my nights are...

the earliest i've woken up... to church...
my cynic and occasional angry behaviour just proves that i have the tendency to go over to the "dark side"...
my dad always said that i've already gone to the dark side...
and just maybe... indeed... i have...
luc(ien) jaywalker: Master will! what are we to do? master sam... betrayed us he has...
Master Will(ie): Flee, we must... chicken, I am...
Luc: No! we musnt flee.. we must go out there and serve our coffees... there is still hope
Master: Go, if you must. Hope... i have none. continue chic hunting... i will... May the force b with you.
Luc: yes master...
S: finally! you've come... join me!!
Luc: no! i love my COFFEE... *slurp*
S: fine... its your loss...
Luc: yes... and defeat you i must.
S: haha... try, if you dare...
*pulls out saber...*
Luc: is that a lite saber?
S: Yes... it is.
Luc: 97% ?
S: no... 99%...
Luc: NOOOOOOOOO !!!!
S: Muahahahahah... *munch, munch...*
(all the characters are fictional... if anyone is directly offended in any way... it was by of no intent... Cheers!!)
i think i'll take a nap before i continue on my work...

i wouldnt mind having a pair for christmas... better yet! thanksgiving... and we may all be thankful for our lovely feet... which carried us through fat & thin. (its US size 10/11, and i wouldnt mind the black/red version as well)
besides that, i just digested down... one and a half cups of rice with canned unagi... and a 25cm long apple danish with vanilla ice cream... thats gluttony no 1 for you!!
but to be called "fat" after all that would be absurd... "good appetite" is the better word for me... ;-)
besides... i had my after-dinner-exercise... a walk around my 3x5 bedroom... and with the heater on... definitely had some fats burnt... its a sauna over here... im sweating in my mouth down to my gullet... *SLURP*
other exciting news... hollywood is doing a remake of the popular (IMHO) korean movie... iL mare... yes people, the title of my blog... the show is so so good... just makes me feel so good after the show...
for one, i love the show because it involves an Architect, and the house he lived in was marvelous... second would be the pretty gal in the show... and the theme song is beautifully written... even though i couldnt understand a single word of it... except the phrase at the end of every verse- "we must say goodbye..."
for the hollywood version... it stars oh la la... Keanu Reeves a.k.a Neo a.k.a J. Constantine a.k.a Ted Logan a.k.a little buddha a.k.a Kevin Lomax. even though the american actress (sandra bullock) aint as cute as the korean one... its still as exciting... this time it involves an Architect and a Doctor... which i can totally relate to that... oh yea... coincidence? i think not....
leaving OCF... ?????
Its just so tiring sometimes, when you don’t get motivated… only being pushed by tutors and lecturers… and all you do is help the people around you hoping you’ll receive the joy and satisfaction out of it. But the truth is, you yourself might not be improving well as much as you expected. You think to yourself… and stare at your work and reflect upon the knowledge you’ve gain… really? Have I really gone a step forward? Has my design skills been sharpen 5 times more… has my architectural logic bring about any sense at all? Has my thinking of reshaping society matured ever since? I don’t know… and grades does not tell you if you do… all it matters is that you pass and head on towards the next stage… leaving what you regretted, or regretted on what you should had done instead.
Would 6 months had made a difference? Its not like im hating architecture already… its just… tiring to be doing work for the sake of doing it… and not being able to appreciate all these until the semester ends, and you realized… Oh! I should had done this or done that… given more thought to it, I might have done this… if only I had to only take one subject per semester… maybe that would not be so bad- probably everyone would wish so too. No, common… commerce? One subject per semester? You gotta be kidding…
6 months of no brainer work… just working in an archi firm… concentrating on one sole purpose… design. Now that would be definitely more relaxing… than taking 3 subs per semester… and still having commitments towards your social agendas… its not easy sometimes, especially when design is involve. I know many of you would disagree… but to me design is so important… that its not just about getting it through towards the semester… but its something I would love to take, and hold and mold it, mixing it up, leaving it for awhile, bouncing it… tearing it apart… reassembling it… and all this would take forever to create something remarkable. But I cant… it’s the idle age… and my mind isn’t as fresh as it was in year 1 and 2… its matured ever since… but its potential cannot be discovered for what so ever reason I do not know.
Hmmm… maybe I should take up my seniors advice and pick up timber furniture design… if you don’t want to think of anything, or you want to figure out design without any disruption… you’ll get that quality time while you’re sand papering the timber… no brainer job -so they say…
OCF is such a drag… boring me to bits… im not sure why, but its probably because I know all too much. darn politics- i hate it with a vengence… making me so uneasy… the backstabbing… incessant gossips… and just pure hypocrisy… irritates me. even the lil things can just tear me apart. Just my total bad impression of it all… from Ben all the way to the members… I know its wrong to be saying things and judging such sorts… but it’s a struggle… everytime I walk into north dining hall…negativity just buzzes around my head… wouldn’t it be nice to just enter into a place, without no whatsoever judgmental thoughts… expecting nothing but still hopeful of something (that would probably be heaven). Not looking at a person and say… you’re a horny bastard… you’re definitely up to something sleazy… that’s purely for your own glory. Even cell group at times be depressing… except for the hope of one… one freakin person… I guess that’s what it all takes… just One.
Feeling much better… now I can finally get some shut eye…and to think, nothing worries me…

drama Queen...
was supposed to go down CBD to take some pretty pictures of "melbourne's unique laneways"... but i figured, why should i go today... if i can go tomorrow, or even monday... et cetera...
im getting really bored of writting this essay of mine... its just type... delete... type type... delete delete delete... type... delete delete delete delete... type type... delete... (u get the idea). i should agree that Urban design Theory is a pretty interesting subject... and i love to read the texts... and listen to the lectures... but to write and express my thoughts... ugh... not keen... however, its not like i have a choice anyway...
i'd rather sketch my way through than to type incessant typo errors... of meaningless text... and thats why you have minimal text... extracting the unnecessary... emphasizing the coherents... of pronunciation, main characters, identity of a word... magnifying the repetition of similarity.
oki, enough of crap...
getting pretty nervous about this coming sunday worship... my debut in drum playing for the church. and its been 7 months since i'd play the drums. after tht horrible nightmare of mine... its forever stuck at the back of my head... "ur gonna screw this up.." nevertheless, on a higher note, theres church lunch as well... something to look forward to... argh i mean... church sermons are something to look forward to... spiritual food... ummmm... yummy!!

after prayer meet, i went over to the lovely archi faculty to check out the exhibition. its a semesterly event where all the students in the faculty would pinned up their works... all to be seen by others. the forgotten fourth years are left to be up on the 5th floor, where not many people would bother to go... 3rds and 2nds on their respective studios, and 5th years on the main atrium.
a conclusion of the whole exhibition would be:
first years- childish, big toys
second years- dirty and messy
third years- trying to do everything
fourth years- an emphasis on the archi drawings
fifth years- emphasis on the concepts and ideas
i realized that many people think i am a final year student... or usually when they ask me, its either assuming im a 3rd or a 5th... what about the 4th?!?!
this is just some wild scheme i made up when i got home...
