humid christmas...

back in koata kinabalu. the weather really humid but thankfully its been pretty clouded lately. i feel like playing tennis or go swinging golf clubs. i hate sitting down looking at my buncho. been feeling abit eeky since yesterday. the flu has kicked in, and my throat is sore. ugh.

christmas is in 2 days and work starts next week. such a pity serene couldnt be here for christmas eve dinner. but i guess we have jocelyn as a replacement. tsk tsk. and paul did say that the both of them have similar characters. i honestly dont see the resemblance. but excited and nervous to start work at this new firm. wonder if the staff would be as friendly as my previous one. or would they all just chuck me at a corner to do my own thing. but i do hope that they will slightly more serious and not all talk and play in the office. its too distracting. please dont let me sit right under the aircond. also, i found out that im neighbours with my boss. small world.

fed my doggy with some beer the other day. hehe... he's one hellava alchoholic k9. hmmm. i think i'll go see what she's up to.

i think god can explain...

had lunch at NamLoong today. fried chicken chops with thai sauce. mmmm... oily and salty. im not surprise if i have high blood pressure. decided to sit right infront near the front door. was curios to find out how popular their "paos" are. since my arrival, all the following customers only came in to take away "paos". one guy bought 6 of every type of "pao", and that would be around 7 different types. minutes later he came in again to order porkchop with rice to take away. he looked abit like jensen... oh no! jensen.
i love sitting there with a pot of chinese tea and taking my on sweet time. for one its supposed to be healthy, plus its free. after one pot of that, my stomach was bloated. ahhhh... i feel cleanse. oh, now im remembering someone once said i look like a hamsap old man drinking tea and playing chinese chess. thank goodness i dont fit in that prescription, i suck in chinese chess.
chinese people are really good at utillising the mirror. almost all chinese restaurants installs mirrors along their wall. well... theres not much you can do with a mirror. one, would be to make the illusion that the space is bigger. second, it actually is supposed to chase ghosts away, ghosts apparently hates seeing their reflection. third, the female tauke is vain together with all her "good looking" chinese boy waiters. and finally would be for security, economically. to sum it all up, its fengshui.

oops. gotta go. appointment.

i like being a foreigner...

sweet november was... boring. the only reason why i was kept glued to it was the ending, if they would live happily ever after or not. the more i see Keanu act, the more i agree that he's not really that good of an actor. but then again, the whole movie was a mess. there was no climax in it, the whole plot was so stagnated. when the heck did they started to fall in love? to me it seemed like they already did from the moment they met. weird.
the movie plot was a typical one. similar to those korean drama series where two people decided to get together for whatever reason but strictly not to fall in love. then they get all happy happy together, then sad, then mushy. soon enough they realise that they actually like each other. But! then there's a catch... all the while the girl has cancer and is near mortality. but guy still wants to be with girl, but girl doesnt wanna ruin the moment. girl leaves and dies, and guy... moves on, thinking that it was a whole bunch of balony. oh it isnt so hard to be a director/script writer.
just hope i wont be too dissapointed about Keanu's movie next year, the remake of IL Mare.

aunt May called. she wanted to invite me to her house for christmas. nice family. its funny, i'm in the same team with her daughter in the worship team but instead i talk to the son. wonder why she name her son Christopher instead of Peter. so cool, he could had been called Peter Parker Tan... and she be aunt May. wait, that's wrong... its her son you idiot.
the church really is a lovely little family. everyone looks out for each other and the pastor really is a good example. hope they would have something on during easter. ofcourse they will, its a church. i'm still trying to figure out the different adult clicks within the church. see which group of family hangs out together or maybe they do rotation.
i talked to the organist today, well, it was more like he was talking to me. come to think of it, i dont think it was really much of a conversation. he was just informing me that we're using the wrong chords for the hymn. doesnt really affect me much. old people arent really good listeners. they love to talk or just trying to find a chance to use their voices. its like that Warren guy, the super friendly fella who talks to almost all the new faces. he can talk to you for hours given the opportunity. but he's really nice and hospitable. the only time i remember talking to him was outside the church sitting on the steel bench. he had a cold, and didnt want to infect the whole congregation with his germs. cant remember what we talked about, only remember the word- Vietnamese. how i ended up there? i was late for church.
cute little church, hope they wont get too ambitious like Reverend Lee. he's probably starting a new service next year, the 1800 hours service. no offence. numbers says it all. most people in the world seeks for acceptance and not really for God. but apparently he accepts everyone for who they are so they go for it. strangely, most christians dont offer that. then again the world doesnt either, but just an illusion of it. i guess thats why at the end of the day, its true that the quality of the congregation counts more than the quantity of them. if you take time and think, the sermon is only half as important as the congregation that creates the atmosphere of it. but ofcourse we must always be aware of the brainwashing sermons. when the pastor says... "Show me the Money!"

Anton's birthday yesterday. jules called to remind me about it. thank goodness Perth is 3 hours behind. its never too late. wonder what do normal people do on their 23rd birthday during the month of december. odd number. its a michael jordan number, i'm officially a legend. i hope the belly doesnt come with it.

found a carpenter cd while clearing up some stuff. so many scratches. i remember seeing a product which cleans cds in Office Works. interesting. and it costs less than $10, wonder if thats considered reasonable. it doesnt even require batteries, only manual labour. its been awhile since i've seen a new technology that uses a medieval touch. savvy.

smells like teen spirit...

i was the little drummer boy in church today, and i played horribly. my drumming skills has become somewhat mundane and repetitive. i just have no idea/ clue of any new creative ways to play the songs. then again, i'm trying not to create a scene and attention. too funky would result in piercing eyes, especially today which i assume i was the loudest instrument after the organ and piano. the stupid guitar guy forgot to bring batteries for his acoustic. i was terrible and i made funny faces everytime i made an error.i should stop doing that. i hate 3/4 beats, i just dont know what to do with it, its a beat thats neither here nor there. and i sort of screwed up the 6/8 beat song today. i was thinking to myself the whole time... "what the heck am i doing?". so embarrasing!
communion was done by swee teng (Ps melvin's bro-in-law). was half concentrating. the front part was interesting when he talked about communion back in the days, where it was divided between the rich and poor. the rich start having their own feast without waiting for the poor people. after that i was distracted by... i dont know what.
the sermon was i think supposed to be interesting. i manage to catch a few points out of it. ummm... example when ps melvin said that there is no such thing as a perfect church. well, it might had been until you join the church and then it becomes not perfect because of your imperfection disease. and another one... i forgot. i couldnt quite put the whole thing together though. i think he saw me yawn... twice. i couldnt help it, its sort of a habit in the morning actually, even if i wasnt sleepy.

My portfolio is now 75-80% done. printing in uni is relatively expensive but i had the whole lab to myself, not like it really mattered. everything now is in A3.
anyway, now all thats left to do for my portfolio is editing up my 3rd year works and modify my industrial training projects (which would be... later). i cant believe the uni lab doesnt have Adobe Illustrator. its so much better than photoshop in arranging presentation boards. thank goodness i never deleted the one in my laptop.

the weather is really friggin cold. its been like that for almost a whole week. i like it.

i actually had something to blog about chocolates but i cant remember what it was now. oh yea! and i wanted to share what i learnt about K-19, the soviets first 2nd generation sub. but i'll do that another time. i think i'll go clean my kitchen instead.

Brit Pop...

finally managed to check out the British Art exhibition at the NGV. i love the "image of revolt" display the best. its so intense and alive, my eyes just glue itself like there was a magnet pulling it, you'd have to i had to literally turn my head away. i think the partial reason why it was interesting was because all these art pieces were immediate reactions towards the cold war, how every artist and movement reacted towards the situation in the 60s. Brits are so conservative/ pseudo-radical in their expression. i guess thats why pop culture was never really pop anyway, IMHO.
aside from that, i visited the brit prints display as well, the less-famous works of some of the famous artists. it was quite funny especially the dialectic prints between pharmaceutical products and art by Damien Hirst.

i hate those yelling advertisements on tv. they treat us viewers as if we're deaf or something. big text and loud voices, oh yea, gets our attention indeed. 'nuff said... im thristy.

did you know? Actor Daniel Wu actually graduated with a BA in Architecture at the University of Oregon. interesting.

city of ideas...

rats! the place is a mess. that's right, just like a rat hole. okay... what else besides that. hmmm.
christmas is coming... very soon. lately the weather has been really cold for a summer season. weird. but i wouldnt want it any better, nice cooling wind breeze which is not too cold to wear a jumper either. just nice.

i think i should continue to go swimming. well, atleast im not gaining any weight at this present moment. eating sufficiently, 2 meals a day and all before 7pm. at this rate... i'll be trim and slim in no time. i know exactly what im gonna do when i head back next year to kota kinabalu.

i've grown bored of reading about Che Guevera. the Cuban missile crisis was all about nothing, i guess thats when the interest faded.

heres an advice from me, never use turkey mince to make pasta, its aweful, the smell is too strong. eww.

thumbsucker...

It's like I just woke up one morning
Looked at the way that we live
Thought things could be so much better
There must be better than this

And if I relocated
To where the grass is greener
Maybe I'd be happy again
But I'm a little bit disappointed
Cos now I've got my freedom
But I'm still looking over the fence

It's always the same
At the end of the day
You always want what you haven't got

It's like the hands on the clock stopped turning
Right at the moment you left
You went looking for something better
You stopped me dead in my tracks

It's a bittersweet emotion
That I'm feeling baby, now you're happy again
But I'm a little bit disappointed
Cos now you've got your freedom

But you're still looking over the fence
It's always the same
At the end of the day
You always want what you haven't got

It's always the same
It won't ever change
You always want what you haven't got

Thought if I relocated
To where the grass is greener
Maybe I'd be happy again
But I'm a little bit disappointed
'Cos now I've got my freedom
But I'm still looking over the fence

It's always the same
At the end of the day
You always want what you haven't got

It's always the same
It won't ever change
You always want what you haven't got

Justin : Come Here!
Dentist: do it in your mind.

other things to complete... ummm. its all written down on a piece of paper somewhere. i'll find it later.

the season 1 of HOUSE has finally come to an end. i thought they would immediately screen season 2 during the summer, instead its some lame medical show, "strong medicine", with female "heroes". maybe i should read more instead. tsk tsk.

okay i better be heading off!

hidden persuasion...

martyrdom... its funny, just today on the abc channel there was this documentary about martyrdom being a religion. the journalist approached one of the iran army general asking him on his oppinion regarding the issue. and he said he was proud of them folks... and he told the them that america better be careful... they be a threat to the americans.
americans dont try to be funny, coz we be killing ourselves... hows that?! now lets see who you at war this time.

my fingers are tied in a gazzillion crossing knots. hope i'll get the job!

christmas is just around the corner. this would be my first sweaty christmas at aussieland. my house is gonna be packed!
since jm and sis would be away this friday, i think i'll head down for the christmas lighting ceremony on friday... santa's gonna be there! then again its not like i care. he's fat.

ugh. first and only paper is next thursday. then i'll be free from this 'orrible "no man's land" dilemma.

is this true?! we've been fleeced...

REASON WHY IN SEJARAH OF MALAYSIA SINCE YEAR 1999 Study about HANG TUAH is MISSING ?????

" The Truth Reveal (with evidence)"
In June 1998, the government of Malaysia had hired a team of experts
Received: from local by SmtpFwd via local research project to
compliment the history studies that we undertaken in our secondary
school. The objective of the research is simply:

1. To find prove and evident that show the Malays are the origins of
Malaysia and they are the first race and religion that lands their
foot in Malaysia.

2. To further strengthen their claims, first they need to find the
grave yard of the Hang Tuah, Hang Jebat, Hang Lekiu and etc..to show
the existant of their pioneer.

3. The Batu bersurat in Terengganu, reveals that the islamic religion
has landed in malaysia for a hundred years ago which furth! er
strengthen their claims!

That is why, we are taught with sejarah (history of malaysia)!!!!

BEWARE & OPEN YOUR EYES!!! go ask your brother, sister, niece, newphew
and etc. etc, since the year 1999 (if i'm not mistaken) or year 2000,
do they study about HANG TUAH anymore????????

Why is that popular subject GONE????? Missing in action??????? or
Evidence reveals something different that causes the government to
stop the syllabus and HIDE the TRUTH????????

Here are the Evidences of the findings by the team of scientists,
archaeologist, historian and other technical staff from the United
State, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Yemen & Russia.

The evidence are:

1) They finally found the grave yard of Hang Tuah, Hang Jebat and
etc..., their skeleton had been analise and samples of DNA had been
taken with the results show:

Hang Tuah, Hang Jebat, hang Lekiu and mates, they are not Malay!!!!!!
They are CHINESE! (islamic)from china!!! and why are they here in
Malacca????? Because they are in a misison to protect the UNGRATEFUL
MALAY from the potential attack of SIAM (Thailand)!!!

So Hang tuah is not malay hero!!! they are the protector of the
useless and ungrateful Parameswara (who is from INDONESIA)landed in
Malacca and claim the land belongs to him!!!
The hang tuah bunch of people are all from china, they are being
assign to malacca because parameswara request the Ching Dynasty
Emporer for protection!!!

This is why the Hang Tuah series of history is MISSING from the SEJARAH!!!!

2nd. Evidence:
The researchers hired by the government found the oldest tomb
stone(grave yard) in Kelantan in year 2000. Suprisingly the tomb stone
are at least 900 years old!!!! older than the so-called batu bersurat.
and the best thing is, it belong to the Chinese.
Being landed first in Malacca doesn't mean malay is the first in
Malaysia cos during that time, the road is too long for them to see
the other side of the coast!!! ! where the chinese has landed far
more earlier.

If you want the black and white evidence of the truth reveals please write to:

The Federal Association of Arc & Research of Michigan, USA

-forwarded mail

its true. the hang tuah epic was the only thing i liked about history. the rest was boring and confusing.
im curious, was the hangtuah story really taken out from the sejarah melayu syllables? i doubt the chinese would actually bother about this issue even if it were true. as long as the money continues to roll in then there shouldnt be a problem. maybe we could get even with a revised NEP.
dont worry, pak lah will handle this. he looks chinese to me.

thanks anton- the china rock man, for the forwarded mail.

it begins on the 18th...

i love enya's music. its so mysteriously magical that it could take me places, beautiful places. i always feel like im floating when i listen to her music. its intense, and simultaneously soothing.
i can always remember the first time i met her. it was in singapore many many years back. the song/ mtv was "anywhere is" and it was screen onto a big huge screen right in front of the museum. the mtv really went well with the song. the theme for the museum was about dinosaurs. and i clearly remembered that we took part in this lego competition to contruct a miniature lego dinosaur. it was pretty exciting. i remember next to us was this mother and her little boy. it was a one lady show. she was quite good, her dino was red in colour adn it was a t-rex. sadly her problem was that she couldnt get the little dino to stand, tsk tsk, unstructurally sound. the head was too big. so anyway, we won.
the singapore trip was strange. i could remember playing basketball at one of the HDB flats. and singaporean guys cant play basketball for nuts. i remembered that they sucked pretty badly. and the 3point line was cacat. it was so easy to score.

i'm still deciding if i should go marketing or continue my work at the business school's library.

for Her...

I needed the shelter of someone's arms
And there you were
I needed someone
to understand my ups and downs
And there you were
With sweet love and devotion
Deeply touching my emotion
I want to stop and thank you baby
I just want to stop and thank you baby
I close my eyes at night,
Wondering where would I be without you in my life
Everything I did was just a bore,
Everywhere I went it seems I'd been there before
But you brightened up for me all of my days
With a love so sweet in so many ways
I want to stop and thank you baby

You were better for me than I was for myself
For me, there's you and there ain't nobody else
I want to stop and thank you baby
I just want to stop and thank you baby

tie a yellow ribbon... 'round the old oak tree

A few days ago i had to unclog my kitchen sink. i was waiting for my sink to be clogged up since march, and it finally did. THANK YOU!! Theory proven.
as usual black water leaks out as i unscrewed the deep seal P trap (haha! i still can remember the term after 2 years), or was it an S trap? whatever.
Anyway, what came after the black water was totally unexpected. aside from the leftover rice, there were chopsticks, straws and a satay stick plus a bunch of hair- i dont want to know where it came from. well... that's what you get when you don't use a sink trap/filter. shucks! i should had done this when my housemates were at home. nvm, wait another 10 months and i can re-prove my point.

ugh, my hands are so coarse and peel-y it don't feel whenever i scratch my back. plus the increase of moles all over me just proves that the future aint so far away (note to self: sunscreen).
i just realise that the crispy chicken rice shop on swanston is pretty good. i can still taste the chicken in my head. plus 5 dollars including a softdrink is pretty okay. and to think that i actually considered going down to the KFC on bourke street.

aside from my graduate trip to Beijing. publishing a book when im 30 would be another goal to achieve. i dont know how on earth will i be able to do that with my bad grammar and limited vocab, but i should. less things to hassle when i reach my 40s. i'm actually pretty anxious in hitting the big 30. i dont know why. just another phase of life i wanna get over and done with.
they say that a man gets more attractive as he gets older. in fact, it actually makes a guy younger. who would had known 2 years ago people thought i was 30, but now at present times they mistake me for being 18.
30 is the age similar to when a girl turns 21. then again i take that back, girls arent really all that adult when they hit 21. they only assume/ pretend to be.they are dirty. girls make a big deal being 21 and guys sigh when they're only 21.

i've got two funny jokes to share... from yours truly Dr. Gregory House.

joke 1.
Patient: it's like my heart is on fire. like it's, oh i don't know, like..."
Dr. House: Burning?
Patient: Exactly!
Dr. House: hmm. Sounds almost like... heartburn.
Patient: so can you give me something?
Dr. House: like a thesaurus?

joke 2.
Dr. House: Ah, a rash, call a dermatologist. If it's wet, keep it dry. if it's dry, keep it wet. if it's not supposed to be there, cut it off. i never could remember all that.

i still wonder if moths really do produces itchy powder. i just killed one.. and there were powdery remnants all over the table.

its late and im a coke addict...

oh before i sleep. i should intro... my doofy bro. muahaha....

*YAWN*

its a hot and sunny day...

for once... proper feedback. i should try to avoid creating the obvious. stay away from the expected. and my housemate is complaining that he has to wear underwear. yes its tight, i know.
btw, the image is a progressive sketch from my design. i still cant put it down. if i never draw the live, i would run out of paper just the way i use my toilet rolls. mayb i should start using recycled paper. excuse the big text. standard procedure.
i borrowed 2046 but yet to watch it. its good... it better be. and am watching this new korean drama serial- Lover's in Paris. its the first serial that im pretty interested in watching. well it hasnt gone draggy yet, and i guess english subtitles always help. however, there are certain obstacles that prevents us from finishing it. sigh.
oh man, its really hot here. i think i'll use the living room instead. my room's an oven.

Aja!

attacking the TEXT...

its a friday evening. the cats and dogs came out to play right in the midst of our journey back home. i should be doing my model, i feel inspired to finish it up since now with my newly purchased base had already done half of the work for me.
it better! cost me a bomb!! ugh.

finally my first real theatrical experience. went to watch this play by the NewYorkCityPlayers- the Good Samritan, or more like the irony of being a good samaritan. its true... nice guys finish last. everything was near perfect, 'cept for my bowel problem. NEVER EVER should you eat expired fish the day before watching a play. its aweful... i wanted to die. plus there wasnt an interval session inbetween. haha! well atleast in melbourne i managed to watch a jazz performance (instrumental improvisation), theatre, and art exhibitions. i really should remind myself to go visit the SPAN gallery, and i must not miss the tate gallery exhibit. i should walk down the art precinct area more often.
anyway, the best part of the whole theatrical experience was the set piece. i loved it. its so artificially real, every detail of it was well thought. when i was scanning through the space i was thinking back on the 2 sets i've done for ocf... perfect murder & jazz night. ugh. give me a hundred thousand and i would still probably not be able do a very good job on it.
okilar, but i thought the interview after the play was boring. what the heck were they saying? the answers were so cliche, all artist would tell you what they are doing is totally the opposite from mainstream. every creator claims not to do/ create something of the ordinary... who does anyway?! no houselights... creating an interaction between the audience, we architects do that everyday, proclaiming that the inside of our buildings has a relationship between the outside... interacting dialogue with nature/ the adjacent context. Back to the set piece, i do give them thumbs up for that. i've been pretty interested in set designs ever since my involvement in them and seeing the exhibition on Steven Butler's theater designs at the Bendigo art gallery. an alternative option if/when my architectural dream crumble and fall.
oki, what the heck did i just wrote about?! basically the play was interestingly good.

lately i'm suddenly into R&B again. i still think K-ci & Jojo is one of the ultimate R&B dinamic duo. they are unique. been downloading some of the passe artists like... Stevie wonder, Lauryn hill, New Edi, Jon B, Babyface, HumanNature, All4One, Blackstreet, etc. to me R&B = Basketball. the early high school days... thats what happens if you mix around with koreans.

nothing's change...

time is running out. only less than 2 weeks before the semester ends. eek. with me is a book entitled- "the teaching of buddha". this would be a good time to convert i guess. wonder how things would work out if we had the grace of God and learn the teachings of buddha.
during the weekend i watched a spike lee movie- jungle fever. its a movie on about racism, class, drugs and affairs. i must say the dialogues were pretty intense at some parts, kind of reminds me of the Wong kar-wai sort of movies. a whole lot of characters in the movie having their own sketch, but are all interconnected into one big plot.
the main conclusion of the movie would is the argument between what is more of the issue- inter-racial relationships or drug addicts. in the movie everyone made a huge fuss about black people getting together with white people, but all the drug addicts were silently increasing in numbers. people was just being ignorant about the issue. it was like all the druggies were actually running around the streets but nobody could even care-less. however with just one inter-racial affair, the whole town went totally balistic and the focal point was on them.
then the ultimate debate was about black men needing to get a white gal to feel more superior. and there aint enough good black man around, the so-called good ones are dating 10 other women at one go. but then again maybe there are good men around... they could be the garbage man, janitors, etc. blabla...
spike lee is quite a genius. i should try and get hold more of his movies. the soundtrack's pretty poetic as well.

other events. i met ellen at the library. its been a real long time since i've seen her. i use to see her pretty often around the library, but now theres hardly a familiar face around. shucks! she finishes on the 7th. thats 2 weeks before me.

urges. i miss walking around the Ramadan bazaars. all the kuih... ayam panggang... murtabak... etc. just walking around smelling all the food brings so much joy to my tummy. MMMMMmmmmmMmmm...

nonsense...

was thinking in the shower. wondering whats all this about people constantly receiving word/ revelation etc from God. these people at every second believes that God speaks to them of what to say. opens up the Bible and tells people but basically repeats the same thing over and over. someone talks about love of how we should instill a lifestyle of love... and then someone comes up and says, " i think God is telling me to tell you that he wants us to love your neighbours".
ironically, these people are clueless in other sorts. things probably that mattered more. or maybe in human standards matters more. If god really speaks to them then why doesnt he tell them things like... "theres a rumour going around abt $900 deficit pls clear it up" or like, "you should be doing this or that etc"...
instead God tells them redundant matters, that seems encouraging but really doesnt help much anyway. its all about throwing bible verses around. and the purpose for? nothing. they dont know what the heck is going on... only know bible verses that dont really tell you specifically what to do. after all that, they would feel like they've been an encouragement to others but actually they had not done much.
eg: someone comes up at the end of the day and says... "God is speaking to me... telling me to tell you guys not to be discourage but continue to trust his word." heck... i tell myself that practically everyday. why not tell me something i dont know. like... campo baeza is holding an exhibition at the artscentre next fall. i mean that would defintely make me feel deeply encouraged, that will definitely instill hope in me to look forward to the future.
in the end, its we ourselves who have to figure it out what to do.
slap them in the face.

a world without thieves...

sigh. my stomach is growling incessantly like a grizzly bear. then again, maybe its more like a puma. anyway its hungry but my kitchen is in a big big mess. terrible.
i'm heading off to the city before i head for school. errands to run. drawings to print. umm.

-studio
-adv services discussion
-prayer meet
-assignments/projects
-presentation

okay. i better be cracking on my attachment work end of the year. hmmm.
i wonder where can i get one of those wrist bands... white/yellow/green ones. they look pretty cool. funky.
better head for the city, might stop by for brunch since im there. i wish the market was open today.

**twilight...

it was good to see my tutor after the long 2 week break. and i guess it goes the same for him reading by the way he was giving me a big wave seeing me in the studio. haha. i actually enjoy/ like my design tutor for a change. after 3 semesters in unimelb finally one of them sort of makes sense. first one was a overly cina lady, followed by super eccentric/gay fella, then later a German sausage who have not a clue what he's doing.
hmmm. my schedule for the week:

tue: adv services tute / lecture
wed: lunch with Jensen/ Gym
thu: Studio
fri: PC/MC studies-presentation (that reminds me, i have not finish reading the reader)

i've got a mail from the tennis club. aussie open 2006. wonder if i should go if im staying behind for the summer. it is going my final year here next year. hmmm. $148 for the men's final. heck! why melbourne?! one ticket should be enough, coz its definitely going to be a Safin match. no doubt about that. whoa the championship package is $560. if only it was in ringgit.

A Hymne to God the Father

Wilt thou forgive that sinne where I begunne,
which is my sin, though it were done before?
Wilt thou forgive those sinnes through which I runne,
And doe them still: though still I do deplore?
When thou hast done, thou hast not done,
For, I have more.

Wilt thou forgive that sinne by which i wonne
Others to sinne? and, made my sinne their doore?
Wilt thou forgive that sinne which I did shunne
A yeare, or two: but wallowed in, a score?
When thou hast done, thou hast not done,
For, I have more.

I have a sinne of feare, that when I have spunne
My last thred, I shall perish on the shore;
Sweare by thy selfe, that at my death thy Sunne
Shall shine as it shines now, and heretofore;
And, having done that, Thou hast done,
I have no more.

- John Donne

been reading poetry from john donne lately. haha. half the time i have not a clue what he's saying. but the ones that i do, i think its lovely. so true. so real. so jaded.
i'm getting sleepy and i have to wake up before 10 tomorrow. and i've been waiting already for about an hour to take my shower. my housemates are really slow. and tony's portugese gal has a creepy stare. she smiles friendly yet she wants to eat you.

learning how to stand is why you fall...

its wednesday the first week of the break. man, having hair is so troublesome. what the heck am i supposed to do with it?! but girls dig hair. makes you look more human. and i've a lil zit between my eyebrows. mind you im not metrosexual nor am i vain. its what they call personal hygene.

anyway, later im going over to the studio to see my tutor. i only managed to whip up 2 different proposal. i dont know exactly how many he wanted when he told me to create alternatives. sigh. i wish i could finalized my friggin building then i can go off to doing my plans and sections etc. then later on to meet my groupmate for Adv Services- assignment 2. ugh. i hate ESD!! its totally a bunch of nonsense. archi students just love to use that as an excuse to their design intentions. then they go about designing all these weird buildings claiming that its for "Environmentally Sustainable" purposes. thats just a euphamism. just 10% for 2 A3 sheets of research. waste of time.
tonight, dinner with my ltc group. i still have no idea what to bring! hmmm. probably just get them greentea swissroles or maybe icecream. and i am going to miss this weeks episode of HOUSE!! oh no. the first break of my watching streak. wonder whats this weeks episode about. trying to remember last weeks preview for this week. i know someone is going to be terribly ill i think. doh.

i've been thinking about it last night. and realized that its about time i let go of the group. let them run around on their own. there isnt a strong reason why we should help keep the bond together. they will get their way around strengthening it themselves i supposed. all i'll keep is an open door. or maybe just ajar. whatever suits.

im staring at jon's basketball. and i really dont know what to do with it. i do really wanna play with it, but the courts are just so far away. and who the heck is gonna play with me. actually i dont really bother who but if only the basketball court was 200meters away, i'd be shooting hoops everyday. maybe i should go swimming later. argh!

i'm spiderman...

obsession...

theres a price to pay for everything. for instance junkfood/cookies/icecream. everytime i consume one of those buggers, i'd have to sweat it out just to keep a complete balance of my body weight(then again, its not like i do it anyway). but! now with EasySlim i can eat all the junk i want AND still stay in shape at the SAME time. wonderful! plus i would like to think its simultaneous. (i've realized that i cant stop talking about this easyslim thing...) i love Malt biscuits... absolutely MALTILICIOUS!! *crunch*

and for tonight, ive got marinated beef in the fridge. AND i've found a new way to poach my chicken with stock. im thinking if i should invite Chialit over for dinner. hmmm. maybe not. i'd prefer to keep all the food to myself thank you. and theres HOUSE today. now i see why porterHOUSE steaks are called porterhouse steaks. cows just love dr HOUSE. well i do!
so what should i do with the greens... what would happened if i baked the bakchoi? eeww.

reminders: School fees. ehehe. oops. and the gas bill. if only i'd remembered yesterday.

reorientating the Fengshui...

i decided to go for the IP thing on tuesday. reason probably was curiosity, like what the heck do they do over there. and i felt that it be best if i check it out for myself just to have some insight since one of my cell member might be taking up as prayer coordinator. atleast i would know the scope he be dealing with. interesting, it was like a therapy session. everyone was seated in a circle and the person in-charge sat on a higher chair with her legs crossed with a pen and notebook. and as they were going around sharing, she would be nodding her head while jotting down notes. haha. im thinking- AngerManagement. the main prayer theme today was on leadership breakthrough or something like that, as Jolyn insists the more personal the better. seeing how things went, i predicted that it would probably last for hours. i felt bad leaving early actually. quite early in fact, plus the fact i was 10 minutes late. hehe. surprisingly it was a small group. 12 people excluding me. and out of that only 3 guys (excluding me). i see what they meant by there are no men around to plow away the snow from the road. and how the only sortofseniority around would be yours truly- Nigel.

other events: Ah Han is still in search for a girlfriend. apparently he's getting pretty desperate. haha. still not desperate enough to go for the immediate availables yet. tsk tsk. and Joy has a crush on one of my design studio groupmate who sat right behind her during Services lecture. tsk tsk. i can see why she likes him. they both wear black framed glasses. ah! the good old 70's.

i've decided to try out mode P9 (on the easyslim gadget) today to see how it feels like. okay. that was abit redundant and technically nobody should be hearing about this. AAaaaaHHhhh...

it might as well be spring...

decided to drop a few words before i leave for Uni. my room is a mess! its all scattered with clothes, papers, books, cds, etc. i should get to cleaning it before the retreat. these few days i've been feeling jazzy. it probably started after watching paul giamachi sing TryALittleTenderness in Duets, followed by stacey kent on Richard III. oh yeah.
besides feeling so jazzy in a melancholy way. i also have this deep urge to beat someone up. i'm beginning to agree on Jun's suggestion. its like if i ever get to see this person, i'll trip the bugger flat on his face. then he would have to get up and let me trip him flat on his back as well. haha.

its week 8 (i think), and its time to double up on the engine. things to push on.
1. Design
2. Essay (Postcolonial studies)
3. Assignment 2 (Adv Services)

also, i've moved away from the losing weight w vigorous activities therapy to man's eureka! technology. i'm now on this Easy slim electric cruncher/ situps gadget. 15 crunches in 30 minutes. haha.

other news. Federer took home the USOPEN trophy yet again. his 6th grandslam. haha. i actually thought Agassi would had taken this one home. a dream too impossible to come true. he managed to cruise right into the final, but sigh. thats probably the furthest he'll ever get. too old. and not as talented as Sampras. he should just retire, and continue his winning streak in the senior circuit.
and now the typhoon has headed south to China. gosh! this is so scary. hope thats as far it would go. apparently rumours had it that Malaysia could be a potential victim. touch wood! touch wood! even the terrorist cant beat that.

okay, i think i'll clean up my room today.

the lost city... N.O.

Order, Huh
Yo...We at war
We at war with terrorism...racism...but most of all we at war with ourselves
(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil's tryin' to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me, with me, with me, with me, with me)
You know what the Midwest is?
Young & Restless
Where restless n*ggas might snatch ya necklace
And next these n*ggas might jack ya Lexus
Somebody tell these n*ggas who Kanye West is
I walk through the valley of Chi where death is
Top floor of the view alone will leave you breathless- Uhhhh!
Try to catch it- Uhhhh!- it's kinda hard
Getting choked by detectives- yeah, yeah- now check the method
They be asking us questions, harass, and arrest us
Saying "We eat pieces of sh*t like you for breakfast!"
Huh?! Y'all eat pieces of sh*t? What's the basis?
We ain't goin' nowhere, but got suits and cases
A trunk full of coke- rental car from Avis
My Mama used to say only Jesus can save us
Well Mama, I know I act a fool
But I'll be gone 'til November, I got packs to move- I hope
(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil's tryin' to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me)
The only thing that I pray is that my feet don't fail me now (I want Jesus)
(Jesus Walks)
And I don't think there is nothing I can do now to right my wrongs
(Jesus Walks with me)
I want to talk to God, but I'm afraid because we ain't spoke in so long
(I want Jesus)
God show me the way because the Devil's tryin' to break me down
The only thing that I pray is that my feet don't fail me now
And I don't think there is nothing I can do now to right my wrongs
I want to talk to God, but I'm afraid because we ain't spoke in so long...so long
So long
(Jesus Walks with me...fades)
To the hustlas, killers, murderers, drug dealers even the strippers
(Jesus walks for them)
To the victims of Welfare for we living in hell here hell yeah
(Jesus walks for them)
Now hear ye hear ye want to see Thee more clearly
I know He hear me when my feet get weary
Cuz we're the almost nearly extinct
We rappers are role models- we rap we don't think
I ain't here to argue about his facial features
Or here to convert atheists into believers
I'm just trying to say the way school need teachers
The way Kathie Lee needed Regis that's the way I need Jesus
So here go my single dawg radio needs this
They said you can rap about anything except for Jesus
That means guns, sex, lies, video tape
But if I talk about God my record won't get played
Huh?
Well let this take away from my spins
Which will probably take away from my ends
Then I hope this take away from my sins
And bring the day that I'm dreaming about
Next time I'm in the club everybody screaming out
(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me, with me, with me) fades)
The only thing that I pray is that me feet don't fail me now
-kanye west

i go absolutely mellow, everytime i listen to this.

if christians cant take criticism like ordinary people. then why the heck go for missions. why bother pray to be like Him. why mingle with the so called brothers and sisters in Christ. why preach the gospel. why bother reaching out when obviously they cant even stand on their own 2 feet when poked by a mere needle. why bother to encourage when all it does is delude. why would a non-believer think he should be one if he finds out he be spineless. why say you love Jesus when you dont even want to receive love from a fellow in Christ. why bother serving when you dont intend to learn. i sometimes am embarrass to be part of it. humans be humans. dont judge, thats plain sick. its true, we arent worth a single scent of His glory. why do we bother so much of ourselves? when really, Katrina wiped out a whole city. wheres the wrong in that? whos to blame? what can be criticized? who doesnt deserve to be there? why. who cares? does your heart ache? please dont lie. sadly mine doesnt.

they were going on the right track

until this came along...

Merdeka... 7 times (a leper's remedy)

week 7. went to watch CharlieandtheChocolateFactory yesterday and it was hilarious! that in retrospective was the only Roald Dahl book i've finished. i had never been able to finish a whole book by the author due to fact that it gradually gets boring in my oppinion. however i can strictly remember that it was right after i read the part when Willy Wonka offered Charlie to try his delicious Hot Chocolate was when i couldnt put the book down. aHHhhhhHhh. however that scene always cease to dissapoint me when its reinterpreted into the movies. but! i must grab hold of the soundtrack. the songs are just so darn spastic and funny. i would agree with jm that the kids in this remake of the movie are far more irritating and obnoxious compared to the original one. and johnny depp is so GAY/ FAGGOTY. cant wait till the premier of the CORPSE BRIDE. its been months since i've gone for a movie with jm only. we couldnt even recall when was it exactly. hITCHhIKERSgUIDEtOtHEgALAXY sprungs into mind.

i enjoy reading the older issues of Majalah Arkitek very much. its just far more informative and critical in its topics. unlike the current one which just a collage of pretty pictures and bias writtings. the truth must be told! Architecture in Malaysia is in need of serious improvement.
was reading the '86 issue the other day regarding Central Market (a.k.a Cultural Market) in Old Town being the first major adaptive reuse project in the country. and realizing how the government can be so dumb to ever consider demolishing the building. to me Central Market until now is one of the most workable urban spaces in KL. ive been there twice myself and i absolutely love the place. its not something you see often around in KL or even in the whole of M'sia. looking back im really thankful for those people who really fought for the place, plus abit of luck as well in the economy. thank God there was the 1980s, the era of conservation. i insist everyyone, to visit the place whenever they're in KL. the energy there is just so splendid. KL has a real potential to be a pedestrian oriented place. and it will work. JKR should start picking up a Jane Jacobs book to read. and Anjung Selera/ Gaya Street or even Damai Plaza should start learning a thing or two from Central Market. i should really publish my "mat rock" theory into the MA.
other things i found out by reading the MA. Dato Kington Loo was a fellow Graduate from the University of Melbourne. beginning to see the similarities. LeCorb fanatics.

im writing a paper for my postcolonial studies on Petaling Street (chinatown). initially was intended to praise in the way it was run compared with the other globalized kitsh chinatowns in the world. however when i found out that they had plunge in one of those cliche arches at the entrance, i became irritatingly annoyed and decided to write the opposite.
sigh. theCultureofDisappearance. sigh. or more like, theDisappearanceofModernAuthenticity. sigh.

no Tutorials... but lecture at 5

finally! submmited my advance services first assignment. phew. it wasnt so stressful, easy peasy nice and easy.anyway, we're having a site visit next week. woohoo! hope it isnt those wear boots and helmet sort of site visit. if im not wrong, it should be some funky building out from the city.
anyway, theres still a presentation coming up this thursday and i've yet to work out my thumbnail sketches and sections. with technology by my side, half of the work is done. SKETCHUP!!

other highlights during the past few days. dinner on saturday at auntie kiat and uncle mickey's place. it was fun! the food was in an abundance. and i did not require to lift a finger to help out. the aunties are so efficient. hehe. and one of them even made meat roles (the one mom makes in bulks), still i prefer it steamed.
the morning was Captain's ball... the aim of the game is to meet at North Court (uni) and walk all the way back to Vic Market for (big) breakfast. yum.
then on sunday was another dinner gathering. this time the ltc food i/cs for the retreat had a tryout session on the meals. yumyum. it was delicious and the service was... hospitable. and the crowd was... whacky. one of them has an ambition to become the Prime Minister of M'sia and then proceed to become the King of the world. speaking of which, Merdeka day is tomorrow. ahem...

green green grass by the river...

i have to confess. i committed a sin. i stole a copy of the Architecture Australia magazine. a whole stack was just lying around the old faculty office just begging to be taken. and since it was unattended and untied, i would assumed that it was FOC. and i would agree that it was a definite green light for me, coz the magazine was green in color (duh!).
i mean, its just like the tennis balls paul and i collected at melbourne park. it was green. and green stands for GO in many countries. its an international sign of approval. plus, you wont say "the grass is always GREENer on the other side" for nothing. and w2 isnt a ganGREEN for no reason. anyhow, whats been done, has already been done. no turning back. hey its not like you would see AA magazines lying around everyday. it was the awards edition, then again there wasnt much of interest in the contents anyway. aiya, it was definitely free for everyone. just a matter of guts. like how w2 is so thick face of himself.

mentoring. i honestly would agree that the body needs it. everyone needs to be loved and taken care of. and having a gangrene in the body just worries me. i really dont give a damn about this particular body. but i really do get worried for the little ones in it. just cant bare to see them get poluted/ mislead by the standards/ ideals of the gangrene (everytime i think of gangrene, i would think of the grinch. don't know why). well being in ltc really opened my eyes to see/ meet the others. seeing them, so naive and willing to receive anything/ everything that comes their way. sooner or later their gonna be knocked down by a train, and not know what hit them till they become paralyzed. everything the gangrene's been doing just seem to be like an oil spill. and to think some people apraise his hypocracy. who gives a damn about the gangrene's legacy anyway? then again, some people think he's right to leave his legacy... in that manner. stupid idiots.

mentoring. i can still recall my beingmentoreddays. ofcoz my ultimate mentors were my parents. the cain was my bible in everyway. but as well i had 2 other mentors from my ol' church at GT (which currently i truly despise. kidding). one mentor was my spiritual mentor, and the other was my lifestyle demeanor mentor.
i still remember the first meet up i had with my spiritual mentor. he took me to eat ICE-CREAM (earthquake!). whoa! we had 16 different flavours (i was keen on the 26 flavours one, but was abit paiseh to request). nevertheless heaven indeed. from there we discuss on whether i was interested to be his timothy and him being my paul. it was then we started the paul-timothy discipleship. my code name was timothy, and he as paul. and my first session was about how paul encourage timothy not to despise his youth in 1 timothy 4:12. the beauty of all our meets was that there was food involve. hehe.
on and off he would remind me about my timothy promise to him when i got abit neglectful on my actions. i respected him, coz he's lame. my sensei. okay, i think sometimes i am abit selective on the advice taken, i.e being in a relationship only when im 30, was a relative input, heh.
we never actually manage to finish our bs. i remebered him dumping a huge stack of bible study material for me to do. it was a whole series of paul-timothy study. hehe, until now, i've yet to finish it.
but i guess he could only cater to my spiritual needs hence the other mentor came in. the ever so fit and spunky sepet Ik Meow. all he bothers to do is to ensure my physical fitness level, mamak diets, a leader's demeanor, and BGR issues (not like i had any. hehe). i think i fared better than him with the girls... muahahahaha. coz i was young and cute!! sigh...
the story goes on and on. and i do miss them at times. Godly people indeed. worship lifestyle. confident. wise. strong in the word. passionate. loving. etc. everything i'm not or struggles to be. then again, atleast im cool.

    EVERYTHING... is Arbituary

half an hour before prayer meet. and this poor little boy is feelin' cold and hungry. today was design studio, i have to say that i really absolutely admire my tutor. he just has an answer for everything, and makes architecture sound so remarkable. oh so picturesque! he's a walking history book, which is more than happy to open himself up, might even flip the pages for you. i guess being that old, you'd have to start spreading your legacy around. like a dog peeing on every tree he sees (okay that wasnt a good analogy of it). or like how w2 is spreading like gangrene.

    anyway. i'll continue this later.

"For every Philip Johnson or Frank Lloyd Wright in a generation of architects, there are countless more who work without fanfare on the everyday buildings where we work, live and shop.

Architects may spend up to seven years completing undergraduate and master's-degree studies, or up to three-and-a-half years in a master's program if they majored in another area during college. To be eligible to take the licensing exam, they also must log three years as interns working for licensed architects.

Architects with a master's might enter the work force with between $50,000 and $80,000 in student loan debt. But as first-year interns, they might earn only $34,000, the national median according to the 2005 compensation survey by the American Institute of Architects. Meanwhile, several steps up the ladder, senior architects earn a median of $68,900.

    relationships... is tough.

we had a facilitator steam boat gathering today (sunday). it was pretty fun, everyone made it and was able to buzz my newly installed intercom. woohoo!
well the good thing for the occasion, was my compulsory act to clean up the place before their arrival. during the steam boat, half my mind was totally worried on them messing up the place. kept my eyes everywhere, keeping close on all their fingers ensuring they dont wipe it anywhere besides the serviettes. never knew i could be paranoid about these sort of things. haha! atleast now my house is spotless... which probably only would be able to stay in that state for a day.

interesting, my housemate was telling me that it isnt good to refrost meat that had been defrosted. so once you've defrosted the meat, then it should be cooked. hmmm... mayb that would explain my occasional stomach aches.
i was asked to consider taking/ heading the mentoring program. err... ummm... ugghh. i dont know. all i know that its all haywire. there isnt a system to it. all they do is flaunt out names here and there on paper... assuming this / that. figuring out how to distinguish the high profile and not so high profile candidates. everyone has their own personal assumptions on everything and everyone. pushing him / her. wt*?!
well, when i see this whole thing being organize. i really dont wanna be a part of it. it probably boils down to the head of the ministry, putting his / her foot down. as what my tutor would say... "make a decision! make a decision!"
i dont know. i'm interested, yet at the same time not. maybe if w2 wasnt so itchy finger, then things wont be so complicated / *up.

anyway! the participants wants to play captain ball during the weekend, and i've got a whistle!! plus free dinner at auntie kiat's place!! prior to our VBS involvement. hahah... so rewarding indeed!!

    mother's birthday...

during our design lecture series, we learn the difference between urban Planners and urban Designers. the difference is Planners communnicate with TEXT whereas Designers uses GRAPHICS. okay that made sense. she then went on about while she was transitioning from being an Architect into urbanism, she struggled on the TEXT part. and she said how we as architects are terrible in our text, our lack of constructive text sometimes creates this barrier between us and the non-graphic literate people. pretty graphics doesnt really say much to people like them. and with no good TEXT to back it up, we're no different from the beautiful-dumb-blonds. ugh! bad analogy? think Britney Spears... lucky.
and yes i do struggle in communicating my ideas/thoughts in TEXT format... sometimes. i use the word sheepS in a plural manner. and i know no shit between verbs and adverbs. okay this is bad. however but in some strange way, i still manage to get through my theory & history classes that required only written TEXTs. then again, it isnt that hard to anyway. all i have is just bad grammar. thats all. and nothing more. i hope. *gulp*
well atleast i know how to spell ARCHITECTURE. and that is all that matters for an architect. the true shame of an architect is when he can't spell the word- ARCHITECTURE (woohoo, i got it right. twice!). this was actually the first thing we had to do during our first year. to spell the word correctly. how sad is that? and that sort of might determine your future in this profession. do or die. then again, with modern tech. i.e. microsoft word, anything is avertable.

sadly today we had no slide show. but i was enlightened on the history of the radio. our tutor thinks we're amazed by how capable the radio was. but really i was more intrigued on how long he's been around for.

    HOUSE

i love the show. its so far the best medical show i've seen. i personally hate hospitals, im afraid of needles, the clinic/ hospital smell gives me the creeps, and doctors aren't to be trusted.
but somehow i still enjoy watching HOUSE. i've decided to limit myself to one show during the weekdays ( weekends depending whether there's a good movie on). and the choices i had from were Cold Case (hot chic), Law & Order: SVU (interesting cases), CSI (somehow you'll get glued to it), and Numbers (i love cop shows with a twist). in the end i picked HOUSE, due to the fact that its on a wednesday (my midweek break day), my GF is a med student (i can so relate to), Dr House is cool, and i love the whole guessing/suspense thrill of it.
i think Dr House is cool, and i love his obsessive behaviour towards his profession. hoping one day i would be as obsessive and compulsive towards my field in Architecture. not really i way of trying to give the client the best, but just to satisfy my complacent ideals of how things should be. And in some strange manner, i'm enthused to break my limb just so i can walk with a cane. then again, i take that back... taking pain killers for the rest of my life aint really the sort of routine i would like to live in.
okay, back to reading my article on 'Transcendental capitalism & the roots of paranoid nationalism'.
oh! and i cant wait for tomorrow... we're having a slide show in the studio. i love slide shows. being able to guess if i remember/ know the buildings makes me feel gifted.
oh, and heres a trivia for you architects...
who designed the Rialto Building a.k.a the tallest building in Melbourne?
someone told me that it was I.M Pei, but apparently it isnt his work.

    SMAP... idea

week 4. a wednesday morning where i dont have classes for the whole day. made myself a sandwich and coke, i reckon the caffeine in it would keep me moving. and ofcourse as usual blasting the SMAP cd... hehe. 'BLUES MASTERS KILL...'
anyway, highlight of the day would be going back to the studio to finish up on the site model. so what have i learn in studio for this week... hmmm, how to mix the rubber cement and solvent together to form glue!! mamamia! well the outcome is you get a sort of glue that has a UHU glue texture but a mounting spray's sticking quality but only stickier. and the fume smells wonderful!! woohoo... i get a tingly highness everytime i run the bottle by my nose. well... thats probably how architects be able to come out inspiring designs, just like rock musicians with their heroin.
other highlights for the week... tomorrow's studio class, wonder what other interesting stories would our tutor share with us... well there is this one story he told us regarding one of his projects.

It was when they were working on the Peralta college at Oakland around the 1960-70s. the team was coming out with various schemes etc, and one day this british fella just showed up in the office and asked for a part time job at the firm. he was having his summer break then and decided to visit the states. and so since he was already there and the extra hand would always be useful they hired him just for the Peralta project. so for weeks they work on the project, the brit boy did skecthes blabla, and everyone was having fun at the same time getting to know the fella. until after a few weeks, the brit boy say he had to leave to continue his tour around the south region. and so he did, but by that time the project scheme was almost done.
weeks after the brit boy had left for mexico. suddenly, he turns up at the office. he had finish his tour around the states and was returning home. but decided that he had to come back to the office, because something had been bothering him and it wont be nice to leave without telling the design team. he told the design team that he was actually a second year optometrics student in london...

okay, this story was probably very boring to all of you. but to me i thought it was pretty interesting when he told us about it.
anyhow! friday's highlight... we will be discussing about australian aborigins during our postcolonial class, and bible study with ltc participant at 3pm and 5pm with jon. okay okay... i better scoot off to uni now.

    Buzzer beater...

had korean bbq for dinner at JM's crib and it was marvelous. it's always convenient when you have non-stick. well, next weekend its steamboat at my place. reason for having it at my place... cause they've installed a new intercom buzzer!! i have been living without one for about half a year, and its great having a buzzer coz you can let your guest in without the hassle of running all the way to the front door for them. hehe, so by having it at my place, all the LTC facilitators can use the buzzer... ooohhh! im so excited!!

the committee extracted a new member from my cell which they had actually just assign her to me last friday. what the...!? well it could be that she wanted the transfer. i mean my cell aint that hospitable anyway. the girls in my cell are just not friendly at all... actually no one is, i suspect its probably because she was msian. and i thought cell was finally going somewhere.
another thing to worry about is my other male cell member.... might have doubts of OCF... maybe... i dont know. i wont blame him anyway. who doesnt.

last saturday at LTC, we had a guest panel of senior OCFers talking about yours truly... OCF. cept... what the heck was Wang Wei doing up there?! anyhow, it was interesting that some of them had their doubts in staying, yet still did. all because of my driving force that somehow compels them to stay. im still deciding whether or not i should as well. i was keen on leaving, but because of the power of ONE... i decided to postponed. however now, if that one leaves... then should i? where would i go? ahah! interesting question... where?! mayb i should start my own SCF.
well, im currently helping out in LTC (JM's ministry). its a course where we try to turn these little imps into (potential) leaders. exciting place. this might give me wider perspective on things at OCF maybe. atleast my partner is keen and dedicated, that for one is encouraging for starters. now we'll have to see how these little brats will do.

chatted with an old college CF friend- Noah. he wasnt really a good friend of mine. but he hung around with me coz he was interested in Jenny Choo. haha, i can still remember those times everytime Jenny tried to avoid him, it was slightly creepy. worse still, he had a twin brother who was as well vaguely interested in her... haha. funny stuff. anyhow, he's into TV production now, asked him to recommend me when does get to produce any movie. wont mind trying my luck in the entertainment industry. hmmm... *slurp*

    Heterotopian culture...

And you thought Frank Gehry was the only one who could do weird tectonics. btw, Gehry is apparently going to collaborate with Brad Pitt to design a 1930's sports center... what the..?! wonder who the engineers are going to collaborate with... Britney Spears?!( hit me baby one more time indeed.)

Apparently, Gehry's Ground Zero's Memorial was scraped. and so calatrava inserts his many collection of monsterous anatomy structures.

Something i might had done for my Rompin Project. hmmm.

friday. the last day of the week/ classes, and my postcolonial studies day from 10 to 2pm. im blasting JM's Smap CD (if u don't mind)... i have no idea why im so seduced by their sparky music, adding to the fact that don't understand a single word they are saying. they rarely use words like Arigat-to... Sayona-ra... Koni-chi-wa... sumi-maste... et cetera. so hard to relate to them in a lingual sense, sigh.

im supposed to tell the class a theoretical problem i'm interested in exploring for my essay topic for postcolonial studies. i have no idea. but context wise... M'sia probably.
    well i better get cracking.

    week 3...

studio is going to be interesting, i hope. we'll begin model making, erecting up the 1:500 site model in the studio. and our lovely studio leader will teach us how to make quick models... apparently its possible to built up a model in 15 seconds, however, i wont be surprise if it was a box. doing work in the studio classes is good, and if everyone is force to do it together right there right that instant. things feel like its being done, finally we're going somewhere in our process.
later in the evening, sector steamboat. exclusive meeting with the other cell leaders within the sector.
currently reading "the cyber cities of Malaysia: Realising the Vision" by Azman bin Haji Awang. and i think ICT is stupid and rediculous, especially when it'll probably affect the architectural aesthetic industry. if no one is going to move out of their comfort houses... might as well we just built a front facade pasted on our sterile white box buildings. heck, nobody's gonna use it anyway. portal frame factories would re-replace the deserted shopping malls. my personal oppinion, Putrajaya sucks... the planning system is so yesterday. and to think that it was designed by a chinese.
    malaysian architectural concepts:
    KLIA- airport in the forest
    KLCC- tower next to garden
Putrajaya- City in the garden (garden city)
ken yeang buildings- green skyscrapers/ groundscrapers (bushy buildings)
    etc...

    my point? no idea...

    full house...

its the second week of the semester. having girls in a design group is very useful, very hardworking and always in a paranoia state of mind. they will do all the administrative and calculation work. working out everything in great detail. me being the guy... will ofcourse do the "manly" task... which is... moral support.
anyway i'll continue to read up my reader.

    Best of You...

the song just keeps singing in my head... "the bes... the bess... the bessst of youuuu!!!!" since the day my brother introduced the song to me. not having a radio just cripples my updated music info. well apparently its THE most popular song now, i hear the song playing everywhere i go... in the music shops, allen's music shop i heard one of the staff singing the tune, pass the construction site i hear them workers playing it on the stereo, on the street people humming the tune, my laptop, and from my very own mouth. everytime i hear it... i feel like bursting out to sing along. but i cant, its indecent, not a conservative asian thing. dave grohl is a real genius, genius to the bone. just like my funny bone, which compliments my awesome humour. okay... that was pretty redundant. goes well with my L-bone... okay... another irrelevant remark.

Anyway, i've settled my subject controversy, decided to opt out from the philip goad seminar and sign up for multicultural/ postcolonial studies. by doing this, i end up with only one off weekday, instead of my previous 2 days off. atleast i get wednesday off, which is a good mid-week break for my "heavy" schedule.

i actually had something to blog about but its totally slipped out from my mind.
but regarding the new spencer st station [pic], i realise theres a meaningful reason on why its built it that undulating manner. finally the building has meaning, well sort of lar. what is it with aussies and undulating ceilings.

last words... FOO FIGHTERS kicks arse.

    first day... of misery

first day of uni was a ludacris hazard. went to my first design lecture gathering to choose my design subject, and it was horrible! the timetable i downloaded from the net was totally irrelevant to this semesters studio classes. apparantly the one on the net was not updated and it was still last years timetable, which caused me to rethink my schedule all over again, causing subject clashes. and i wasnt at all remotely interested in any of the design projects offered. and because of my timetable clash, i had limited choice out of the 15 studios. we were asked to write down our 5 top preference, but i could only write down 3, cause those 3 were the only available slots for me. then again i couldnt be bothered of the projects, and ironically ended up with a Bauhaus project (my last sem's project was a bauhaus project, and i distinctly reminded myself not to fall into another german bomb shelter). fate has its paradox.
then after the selection i went for my next class, which apparently turn out to be a masters standard history sub. its terrible!! the subject itself is interesting, but the workload is crazy, especially for a guy who is beginning to drift away in his mental realm.a thesis paper in one semester!? i might as well just camp at the faculty building, besides since we do have an allocated studio space for our own, i might as well just do that... :-( i better reconsider taking up that subject, really hope theres space for the sculpture workshop.
later that, i realized that now there is another problem. another time table clash... again!!

    okay, im not complaining...

    Fat and Lazy...

    Manji, originally uploaded by jQk.

been checking out this new comic- Blade of the immortal. its a pretty good manga. one of the best graphics ive ever seen (i still have no idea why ppl go gaga over Naruto, i personally think it sucks). the pencil rendering/ sketching is superb, has got that sort of edgy rough touch to it.
the story line aint to cliche as well. the action and killing is so unpredictable. aint like the sorts like samurai x, new macross, dragonball GT... etc, where characters rarely or never meet their doom. this is definitely in my list of best manga graphics and story... along with dragonball Z, SlamDunk. i think the drawings surpases the other previous 2.
apparently it won the Will Eisner comic industry award and the Media Arts Award. i think slamdunk won the media arts award before.
oki the storyline is basically where the men are slaughtered and the women raped. but the rest of it is pretty interesting.
cant wait to find out who the Mugai-Ryu assasins really are. exciting.
and i to think that good comics would never exists nowadays.

    Blade of the Immortal...

holidays are almost up. only 4 days to go before school starts, and that reminds me to make sure i be at uni on friday.
i've just sent out an application to one architecture firm located at St. Kilda. not putting high hopes on it, just pushing my luck on everything that comes by now. having said that, i wonder if there would be anymore jobs coming along when the sem starts.
a friend of mine called me 2 days ago, asking me if i've got a spare bed for him in august. i'm not very keen on this guy coming, being the precedent incident last year when he came to stay at my place (slept in the same room as me), had a hard time aiming for the toilet bowl... which he got it 6 inches shy of the target (aint got enough pressure or strength in the morning maybe). and he's got serious body odour, that can get to you from a mile away. and his specialty is chatting... loves to talk about practically everything that mostly have to do with him. hmmm... i asked him to check out other options first, but he seems to try and lead everything back to my crib. heck, i'll just have to tell him that my taiwanese housemate is a racist, and he's colored blind. oops.
speaking of taiwanese housemate, im suspecting now that he smokes in my toilet while he poos. clues? the bathroom window is wide open, my toilet roll thickness is decreasing, and my towel smells of tobacco, oh! and there shit remnants in the bowl... which doesnt look like mine (mines dark chocolate)... ooookay no one really needed to know that. but damn its irritating, it was much better when he was gone, or before he went back.
next thing to worry. July camp. am really uninterested in going, far away... for a fee. i would had no doubt in moving my ass miles away if it was paid for. sucks being a cell leader... "duty calls" or maybe not. i think maybe i shouldnt be there, let them cell members of mine move with them own 2 feet and not cling on each other, get to know them other hipo peeps. whoa, im convincing myself that this IS going to be my last semester there. nomore hanging out there after that.
hmmm but i cant move to parkville. found out that the Mak's son goes there... spineless prick. anyway!

oh. the whole household is here...

    Howl's moving castle...

Chadstone ain't as big as it is said to be. but maybe the arena ain't big enough to conquer if you haven't got the dough to venture. however, i really love the glass dome that spreads across the ceiling, using the sky as a ceiling feature/ daylighting, it reminded me of the crystal palace.

pls check out my photo album. just posted up some food photos. yum.

we decided to have tea before we headed back to the city from Chadstone. and i had mars bar cake with a mochacino... the slice was huge! as big a slice as the one they offer at Westin. i had been eyeing on the cake since we passed by the cafe several times as we try to find our way around. all day long i was thinking of the cake, wondering when i be able to eat it. it wasnt as great as i'd expected, but still the slice portion was enormous, it lasted me all the way till 10pm.

after conquering Chadstone, we realize that we were way ahead of schedule, and decided to visit the Casino at Crown. we strolled around the Casino observing all the poker faces giving their best luck. then we were offered 10 dollars each for gambling for free. excited we were. so we agreed that we should use the voucher to win our dinner meal. we walked around all the black jack tables trying to find the right dealer that we think would make our money's worth. we decided on this asian lady, heck! we had nothing to lose anyway. 10 dollars... dissapeared right in front of our noses in less than 50 seconds... how humiliating it was. thought we would stand a chance, thinking luck would be on side for our first try. not only did we lose the money, we did it in 5 cards... 25 points... greedy idiots. should had taken our chances when we were at 15.
    suckers.

    Today...

today. jm has left back to singapore once again. so now its juts me and paul... ebony and ivory... lala. it was interestingly enough, pretty exciting. we were supposed to go down to smith street to check out the nike warehouse, but by the time we were ready to set our journey out from the house, it was already too late to begin. but there were always other activities to do. for instance... poaching tennis balls at melbourne park. we manage to collect 9 tennis balls at the show courts... thats about 3 tubes. scavanging around the place... i guess theres a reason why the bushes at the park are torny and prickly. but that didnt stop us for pulling out balls underneath the prickly bushes. dad would be proud of us... he would probably do the same as well if he was here.
we took quite awhile at melbourne park... since it supposed to be very historically important, oh says paul. after that we just bum around the city, and went supermarketting before we headed back, and got lucky too... managed to catch the city circle, even though it was after 6.
*okay im trying to persuade anton to come down melbourne.... hope this would work out*
and dinner... paul VOLUNTERED to cook pasta goreng... which he insist that his meatballs is worth challenging Jm's. anyway, i'll post them up once i got my food album going.
this reminds me... time to reload my calling card. the parents should be wondering by now, why hasnt their boys called.

    Lazy saturday afternoon...

it has been awhile since i've log into my blog. paul is here in melbourne, and nothing pretty exciting has happened... 'cept visiting the uni, borrowing comic books, renting DVDs, watching Batman Begins (which happens to be a pretty good flick), and lazing around. the weather's been real cold, not a very good time to go out instead to stay at home keeping ourselves warm.
however, VBS was fun. the kids were a hazard. they really think they could get away with things using their cute-sy charms... well they managed to. they are like little flies flying around buzzing everywhere, never staying still in one place for more than 30 seconds. one moment here sitting on the floor and the next they're over at the other end stealing balloons from the game props bag. i would say, 80% of the kids at VBS were boys, and they are a real rowdy bunch, just makes u wish you could be able to tie them up somewhere just to keep them still. Crazy!! no longer am i gonna get myself involve in games anymore... maybe next time i'll be a kitchen helper. but the kids were pretty adorable, and i've learn to use all the fruits of the spirits all at once...

    plans for tonight: Crown Casino

    sam is handsome! says Paul

    brighter than sunshine...

This is it! the nba finals has boiled down to its one final decisive game... the pistons has stolen the useless spurs hopeful championship match away... and thank goodness for that. the world would be in horror if the spurs had taken home the trophy, many had thought that game 6 would be the final wrap up... pistons are like chewing gum not that easy to be swept away.
Anyway, its a bright and sunny day today. the sun is happy, but the wind is chilly... it really feels like the weather you get on a weekend. plus, this is the earliest morning i've ever woken up for the past few weeks...JM and I went all the way to grattan st, just for one pathetic breakfast meal. which served: 1 slice of bread, 1 spoonful of spinach, 1 tiny little tomato, 2 short slices of bacon. the food was not bad, just the portions were sad. after trying all these breakfast places around, i am still in favour of the Big Breakfast at Vic Market... YUM.
Recently i've been indulging myself, together with JM with a korean drama series... a pretty lame and slow moving drama. everything moves really soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slowly. everyone is so so blur and zombie-ish. sigh... and you wondered why such a story would require 21 vcds to complete the series... sien ah... i get so restless at times that i just wanna skip the whole drama and go right to the end. luckily, one of the actress is a Denise Keller lookalike... and she pops by on and off... so thats pretty interesting... 'cept theres this fat chubby little booger that follows her everywhere... and i really really hope that she wont get together with him. if only i was in there to sweep her off her feet, and then tell the fella... "anatawa buta des... hait! Arigato... osama bin laden."
hmmmm... the weather is very pleasant. i feel like going for a run... think, think, think... maybe?

    You Are 26 Years Old

    26

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.

13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.

20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!

40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

imagine that. i did this whilst doing my journals... kewl.
mind you... i still look 22... oops! delete delete... 18.

    one more... to go!!

    New Guggenheim in Mexico

Tadao Ando just never ceased to amaze me... well, at this point he really isnt my idol anymore... but still a master to all. this time he's up for steel buildings (i'll post the photo next time... maybe). then again... it was the clients specific instruction not to use concrete as the skin of the building... still a marvelous piece, though i doubt the serious insufficient day lighting that would probably enter into the building, with such few slits of openings... still doubt his practicality of his architecture at times... well, that proves the biggest difference between a trained (graduate) and non-trained architect... OOps
and then here is the much anticipated new Guggenheim museum set in Mexico... rarely i've seen a museum build it that sort of fashion- Vertically. its almost like an office building... but it was for a good cause, minimizing the land usuage of the site... conserving as much forest area as possible. and the site looks extraordinary... gasp! must be an excellent view... at the edge of the cliff. new reason to visit Mexico... aside from the stuffed up donkeys...
sigh... when would this opportunity fall into my feet... i would die to get a project like that... hence i would need proper skills and capabilties... which at this point i have none... and this saddens me deeply...

ive realize that... the next time i go abt in my expeditions... i should bring a sketchbook... after scanning to plenty of sketch drawings... i realize the signicants and advantage of it... a camera would only take every possible view u see, but a sketch tells u the specific details u see, hence, less confuse. yea, i know this is a first year thing... of bringing a sketch pad every where u go...
using a camera, we would just take advantage of its endless memory capasity... but a sketchbook with its limited pages... every sketch counts. then again... lots of ink would be wasted... hmmm.

and ive found interest in ambiguous graphics... the japanese are really a unique bunch of buggers... they are really skewed in their perspective of life...
