during our design lecture series, we learn the difference between urban Planners and urban Designers. the difference is Planners communnicate with TEXT whereas Designers uses GRAPHICS. okay that made sense. she then went on about while she was transitioning from being an Architect into urbanism, she struggled on the TEXT part. and she said how we as architects are terrible in our text, our lack of constructive text sometimes creates this barrier between us and the non-graphic literate people. pretty graphics doesnt really say much to people like them. and with no good TEXT to back it up, we're no different from the beautiful-dumb-blonds. ugh! bad analogy? think Britney Spears... lucky.
and yes i do struggle in communicating my ideas/thoughts in TEXT format... sometimes. i use the word sheepS in a plural manner. and i know no shit between verbs and adverbs. okay this is bad. however but in some strange way, i still manage to get through my theory & history classes that required only written TEXTs. then again, it isnt that hard to anyway. all i have is just bad grammar. thats all. and nothing more. i hope. *gulp*
well atleast i know how to spell ARCHITECTURE. and that is all that matters for an architect. the true shame of an architect is when he can't spell the word- ARCHITECTURE (woohoo, i got it right. twice!). this was actually the first thing we had to do during our first year. to spell the word correctly. how sad is that? and that sort of might determine your future in this profession. do or die. then again, with modern tech. i.e. microsoft word, anything is avertable.
sadly today we had no slide show. but i was enlightened on the history of the radio. our tutor thinks we're amazed by how capable the radio was. but really i was more intrigued on how long he's been around for.
